Is it really a Contra clone if it's better than the game it's trying to copy? Gunstar Heroes is an excellent action-platformer in its own right. Despite the chaos that ensues on-screen, the lower difficulty settings are sensibly easier making it accessible for beginners (looking at you Konami). The only negative is one particularily overpowered weapon combination that almost breaks the entire game, but I'll let you discover that on your own.
